About
Copyright Protection Services International
Started
in 1993 and originally based in Dublin Ireland, the company was
then named Copyright Protection Services Company of Ireland
Ltd.
The intention was to service the Irish Copyright market, however
demand
for this unique system of copyright protection was such that orders
were being received from across Europe and beyond. As a result
it was decided to rename the company Copyright Protection
Services International.
In 2001 we relocated to Australia and are based in Victoria.
While the Irish and European client base continues to grow we
also have clients from continental America, Australia and Asia.
Reasons
for starting Company
John
Coleman writes; "My daughter is an inspired songwriter
and sings like an angel. At the tender age of sixteen, the lyrics
to one of her original songs were stolen and performed in public
by someone who wrongfully claimed ownership of them.
She was devastated - as was I. How could this happen? We thought
that copyright law protected her work.
We engaged the services of a solicitor. He informed us that
she would have to prove that she had in fact written the song
first. He asked her to provide various documents, drafts, dates,
witnesses etc. He told us that it was going to be expensive to
fight the case and in the end it may come down to a judge in a
court of law, to decide who had the most "convincing
proof". Reluctantly, we decided to drop the case.
I
was furious and became determined to set up a system whereby she
and other authors, would not have to go through this painful process.
I carried out extensive research into existing methods of protecting
copyright. I was horrified at the fallacies and loopholes in many
of them.
As a result, copyright protection service was established in order
to protect authors against the loss of their creative work - to
provide irrefutable proof of first ownership, to provide peace
of mind and at an affordable cost.
My daughter now copyright protects all her song lyrics and music
before she passes them on to her record company and publisher."

People
who steal your creation for their own profit, more often than
not go to great lengths to provide false paper trails in order
to give the impression that your creation is in fact their creation.
You
as the honest creator of the copyright work must prove to a court
of law that it is a case of copyright infringement and that you
have first ownership rights for your original creation. Unfortunately
too many people cannot provide this proof.
